Kudos to the UK Government and all the hard work UKHospitality has been doing in the background to make the case for unprecedented Government support to the Hospitality industry.
For 6 months starting 15 July, the rate of VAT applied to food, accommodation and attractions will be cut from 20% to 5% and a new "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme will provide a 50% discount for meals eaten out each Monday to Wednesday in August (up to £10 per diner). The Government says these measures are expected to help support 2.4 million jobs in the UK. We really are living in unprecedented times.
It is still a long road back to full health but it's really great to see the steps being taken to support an absolutely vital sector of the UK economy.
