.eu domain names – a short and sweet update

As a result of collaboration between EURid and the EUIPO, EUTM applicants have (since 2016) been able quickly to check if an equivalent .eu domain name is available for registration.

Now, they can also opt-in to receive an alert if a .eu domain is registered that is identical to their EUTM application or registration. This will allow early notification and potential action particularly where .eu domains are registered in bad faith.
