Update on Tier 1 investor visas suspension

On 6 December the Home Office issued a statement to the press announcing that it was planning to suspend the Tier 1 Investor visa with effect from 7 December whilst it introduced reforms to the route. This was confirmed in a statement from Immigration Minister, Caroline Noakes. In a surprise twist, it has now been announced that, whilst the investor route will be reformed in 2019, the scheme will not be suspended in the meantime.

Confirmation that the route will not be suspended is good news for those preparing to submit an application in the near future. We recommend that, if you or your clients are planning to submit an application under the Investor route, you take steps to finalise and submit the application as soon as possible to avoid the upcoming changes detailed in our article on 6 December.

Please speak to your usual contact in our Private client team or Vikki Wiberg in our Immigration team for further information.
