Taylor Wessing launches new Gen-AI tool TWLitium across its international offices

Taylor Wessing, the global law firm, today announces the launch of TWLitium, its new custom-designed generative AI (GenAI) tool. This leading-edge  AI solution is powered by the latest Chat GPT4 technology and is designed by the firm to transform and enhance the way in which legal and business services teams at Taylor Wessing manage a range of key processes and tasks, and crucially how they deliver legal services to clients and interact with intermediaries.

TWLitium was built on Microsoft Azure technology by the firm’s IT team, led by IT Director Mark Rendall. TWLitium’s live capabilities are chat, content generation and document analysis, and it is housed within Taylor Wessing’s own infrastructure, meaning all information is kept within the firm and is not shared with third parties, which is of fundamental importance for security and data protection purposes.

Leveraging Taylor Wessing's innovative approach and core expertise in the tech sector, TWLitium is currently available to Taylor Wessing lawyers and business professionals based in the UK and internationally. As well as the market leading deployment of its GenAI tool across the firm, Taylor Wessing is building on its profile as a leader in the tech sector to advise clients and provide market commentary on the fast-paced development of GenAI , including on the recent political agreement regarding the EU AI Act.

All lawyers from trainee level upwards at the firm will receive a tailored internal education programme to ensure clients grappling with the rapid advancements of GenAI technology receive technically accurate and up to date advice. The deployment of TWLitium is just one in a series of AI tools in the pipeline within Taylor Wessing's AI strategy.

Emma Danks, member of the Executive Board and Co-Head of the Global Corporate/M&A group at Taylor Wessing, said: “Taylor Wessing has always been at the forefront of technological innovation and therefore our experts are well positioned to advise on and exploit for the benefit of our clients the opportunities generative AI can bring to businesses. TWLitium enables us to create competitive advantages for clients looking to explore this emerging area of technology and to drive momentum in the AI investment market. Given the team’s deep understanding of the technologies our clients are using and developing, deploying TWLitium internationally is a natural next step. It will not only allow us to offer a great service to clients using AI to drive matters, but it will also ensure that we can offer them expert advice from a commercial and regulatory perspective.”

Mark Rendall, IT Director at Taylor Wessing, added: “TWLitium allows our people to harness the potential of GenAI to create a more fulfilling working experience. This tool improves the connectivity, technological expertise and productivity of our people and in turn, enhances the onward service to our clients. TWLitium ensures that we deliver an AI-enhanced client service experience which is distinct in the market. Launching TW Litium reinforces our position at the forefront of technological innovation in the legal sector. The term ‘Litium' draws its roots from the Greek word 'lithos', meaning stone. This advanced tool will add strength to our services and will be a solid foundation that supports our lawyers in continuing to deliver exceptional service to clients.”
