Our new Trophy Assets Guide is now available. This comprehensive guide has been written to help UHNW individuals to understand the legal implications that can arise from purchasing, owning or selling high-value assets.
It has been nearly a decade since our last edition, and the trophy assets market has evolved considerably. The ultra high net worth (UHNW) population has grown steadily, and this is projected to increase by 28.1% globally over the next five years, according to the Knight Frank Wealth Report 2024.
This expanding UHNW demographic is likely to drive continued demand for trophy assets, with ongoing investment in alternative assets such as classic cars and real estate.
Furthermore, the market has diversified, with older generations transferring wealth to Millennials and Gen Z, who have different interests and investment preferences. This shift is likely to increase investment in emerging asset classes like designer handbags, high-end watches, sports clubs, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
With 53% of global wealth expected to be inherited by younger UHNW individuals by 2045 according to a recent study by Boston Consulting Group, substantial capital will be available for these new asset classes.
Of course, these assets all come with their own unique challenges. Purchasing and owning them requires careful consideration from a legal, regulatory and tax perspective and a solid understanding of the risks involved.
We've written this new edition of our Trophy Assets Guide to help individuals to understand the key areas they need to consider before investing capital to avoid potential pitfalls and grow, protect and transfer their wealth in the most efficient manner.
