Taylor Wessing, under the joint leadership of Berlin-based partner Dr Thorsten Seidel and Munich-based partner Sven Schweneke, has provided legal and tax advice to Berlin- and London-based investor Hypax on its acquisition of Powerbox International AB, a Swedish manufacturer of bespoke power supply solutions, from the listed Japanese company Cosel Co., Ltd. (TYO:6905).
The transaction encompasses the entire Powerbox Group, including its international subsidiaries, and strengthens Hypax’s position in the industrial technology sector.
Dr Thorsten Seidel, Partner at Taylor Wessing in Berlin, comments: “We are delighted to have advised Hypax on this strategically significant acquisition. The acquisition of the Powerbox Group from a listed Japanese industrial group is a challenging transaction both in terms of company law and its international scope."
Sven Schweneke, Partner at Taylor Wessing in Munich, adds: “The combination of Hypax’s investment expertise in complex carve-outs and Powerbox’s technological strength opens up excellent growth prospects. We are proud to have supported this complex cross-border deal with a dedicated team across multiple jurisdictions."
