We have advised the management team of leading international intelligent content automation software vendor, SER group, on its strategic growth investment from TA Associates, a leading global private equity firm.
Since its inception in 1984, SER has evolved from a provider of enterprise content management (ECM) solutions primarily serving the DACH region to a leading innovator in Intelligent Content Automation (ICA), distinguished by its advanced AI capabilities and a growing international clientele. Following investment by Carlyle in 2018, SER enhanced its executive team, rapidly transitioned to a subscription-centric business approach, broadened its product range, and penetrated new markets such as the US, UK, continental Europe, and the Middle East through strategic organic growth and mergers and acquisitions.
We advised the firm's management team in respect of the strategic growth investment by TA Associates.
Commenting on the deal, private equity partner and head of UK M&A team, Emma Danks said: "We are thrilled to have supported John and the team at SER group on this landmark milestone in their global growth journey. The business has flourished under John's leadership and with Carlyle's support, and we look forward to seeing it continue to lead the way in AI-powered, next generation ECM, with the backing of TA Associates".
Dr John Bates, CEO of SER, added: "I'd like to thank Taylor Wessing for their support in this fast-paced transaction and their unwavering provision of excellent, commercially oriented legal guidance, which has been instrumental in navigating the various intricacies of the investment."
The team comprised of partner Emma Danks, senior associate Ryan Brown, and associate Callum McLean in the private equity team.
