We have advised Nuclera, the pioneer in making proteins accessible to everyone through their eProteinTM desktop bioprinter, on its expansion and consolidation of three existing facilities into a single location.
The new headquarters, due to open in late 2022, is a short distance from Cambridge city centre. Located next to the guided busway, the site provides both convenient amenities and flexible commuting options for employees and visitors. The company sought the new space less than a year after a successful $58m Series B fundraising enabled them to expand personnel across key functions and ramp operations.
We recently advised Nuclera on its Series B financing, which totalled $58 million and on its acquisition of E Ink’s digital microfluidics unit and are excited to continue to support the company throughout its growth.
Nuclera’s eProtein™ bioprinter will allow researchers to accelerate discoveries and treatments by delivering on-demand, benchtop access to proteins. Researchers will soon be able to seamlessly move from protein screening to scaled-up expression on an accelerated time frame in all market segments.
Commenting on the transaction, real estate partner Lauren Fendick said: "We're delighted to have worked with Nuclera on another aspect of their development and expansion, this time finding a new home for its headquarters. We look forward to continuing to work closely together as they continue their fast growth and impressive trajectory."
Co-founder and CEO of Nuclera, Dr Michael Chen, added: “The scale of our work and team is expanding at a rapid pace. Following our recent Series B raise we have secured top talent across key positions and are rapidly progressing in our mission to make proteins accessible via game-changing technology. We believe Lateral’s unique lab space focus mirrors our own ambition for better service and innovation in this sector.
"Taylor Wessing provided us with exceptional support during our acquisition and financing journey and we are delighted to continue to receive this support from Lauren and Rebecca with the relocation of our new headquarters.
The team was led by partner Lauren Fendick with support from partner David Quinlan, senior associate Rebecca Miller and associates Emma Coates and Lucy Graham.
