EUIPO extends deadline again

  • QUICK READ

The EUIPO has announced a further extension of time limits due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It means that all time limits expiring between 9 March and 17 May 2020 are automatically extended to 18 May 2020.

The extension applies to all procedural time limits on EUTM and RCD matters before the EUIPO irrespective of whether the time limit has been set by the Office or is stipulated by Regulations. It therefore includes statutory time limits relating to matters such as claiming priority, renewal and recordal. However, it does not apply to non-EUIPO matters such as appeals to the General Court.

If parties choose to discharge their procedural obligations before the expiry of the extended time limit, the relevant time limit will be considered exhausted and the proceedings will continue without awaiting its expiration.
