Anna Taylor

Anna specialises in helping companies, investors, lenders and trustees to find solutions to the legal challenges they face in dealing with UK pension schemes.

Anna regularly advises both trustees and employers on the day-to-day running of schemes, funding arrangements, investments, changes to benefits and member options, scheme mergers, and de-risking solutions such as buy ins and buyouts. Her advice to investors and lenders enables them to manage the risks associated with transacting with companies that operate defined benefit schemes.

Anna aims to work closely with her clients to provide them with pragmatic, clear advice that will help them achieve their goals and to successfully navigate this complex area of law.

Buy in of c.£900 million of pensioner and deferred liabilities	Advising the trustee of a large defined benefit scheme on insuring its final tranche of liabilities with a UK insurance company.
GMP conversion	Advising the trustee of a defined benefit pension scheme on a project to convert "guaranteed minimum pensions" following a Court decision requiring equalisation of GMPs in occupational pension schemes.
Disposal of a UK business	Advising the seller of a business on retaining its UK pension scheme, so that the business could be sold free from any historic pension liabilities.

Funding solutions	Advising a trustee on the terms of a funding structure to be put in place in order to provide accelerated funding should certain events take place.
Buy out and winding up of part of a pension scheme	Advising the trustee of a sectionalised pension scheme on the buy-out of all liabilities of one section with a UK insurer, and the subsequent winding up of the arrangement.
