Elaine's advice brings over 25 years of experience and evolutionary insight into data protection law, spanning from its primitive 1980s inception into UK law, through the development of interfacing laws such as freedom of information and e-privacy laws, to the current day challenges of GDPR and its application to innovative business and technology.
Elaine has advised clients on a wide range of data strategic, governance, risk management, and compliance matters. In addition to audit and implementation work, she has assisted clients with complex privacy impact assessment and legitimate interests assessments involving innovative contexts and technologies, and multi-party data sharing arrangements between both businesses and public sector agencies.
This work includes creating accountability frameworks through compliance policies and procedures, auditing and formulating intra-group sharing arrangements, data monetisation and big data strategy, and ICO engagement including policy liaison, complaint response, audit, undertakings, enforcement notices, and prosecutions.
