This week SoulCycle (the achingly cool US indoor cycling fitness business with cult-like status) announced it's partnering with luxury travel company Black Tomato to host Retreats by SoulCycle, a new wellness retreat in the US. Wellness tourism is definitely on the rise and rise – projected to be worth US$919 billion in 2022. So why isn't there more partnering in the fitness/wellness sector with hotels and resorts to tap this market?

Nowadays, the most depressing room in many hotels is the gym. Often a dingy room, empty of guests and full of unused equipment. We have seen the revolutionary transformation of hotel lobbies in recent years from un-atmospheric areas solely used to collect keys and wait for taxis, to an extension of your hotel room where you want to hangout.

Why don’t Hotel Brands partner with professional gym and fitness operators to bring customers into the hotel, drive revenues and give Hotel guests a much more fun experience?
