Jan Schumacher is a member of the Practice Area Trade Marks and Designs. He advises national and international enterprises on all aspects of intellectual property law, in particular on trade marks, designs, domain names and unfair competition law. The scope of his work for Taylor Wessing encompasses court litigation, the representation of clients in administrative proceedings as well as the drafting and negotiation of agreements.
Jan Schumacher studied law at the universities of Saarbrucken and Cologne. Following his first legal state exam in 2001 he worked as a scientific assistant at the Institute of Civil Law and Commercial Law at the Cologne University where he also wrote his doctoral thesis on a corporate law issue. After passing his second state exam in 2005, Jan Schumacher worked as a lawyer in an international law firm and from 2007 in a Cologne based law firm which is specialized in intellectual property law. Jan Schumacher joined the Düsseldorf office of Taylor Wessing in 2010.
Jan Schmacher is a Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property Law. He is co-author of several IP-related articles published in professional journals. He is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the International Trademark Association (INTA), the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA) as well as of the German Bar Association (DAV).
Jan Schumacher, a native German speaker, is fluent in English and has a basic knowledge of French.
