Detlef Klett specializes in legal advice in the IT, telecommunications and data protection segments. He has advised domestic and international IT and telecommunications companies on all operative aspects, including outsourcing, licensing and IT compliance, for many years. Apart from that, Detlef has been in charge of legal support for complex public-sector IT projects, in particular in connection with the German Federal Ministry of the Interior and its sub-departments. Detlef has been recognized as a "frequently recommended lawyer" for IT law by JUVE, Germany's leading legal handbook, for more than seven years in succession. He is a specialist in information technology law and has been mentioned as a leading lawyer in this field by Handelsblatt, Wirtschaftswoche and Legal 500.
Following a traineeship as a bank clerk and legal studies at the University of Cologne, Detlef completed both German legal state exams in 1993 and 1995 respectively. He was admitted to the bar in 1996 and joined Taylor Wessing in 2005.
Detlef is a co-editor of the manual "Leitfaden IT-Recht", which was published by Bundesanzeiger Verlag. Besides, he regularly contributes to several professional journals and gives lectures on his areas of expertise.
He is accredited as a conciliator at the Hamburg Conciliation Centre for IT Disputes and is vice chairman of the intermediate examination board “Specialist Lawyer for IT Law” of the Düsseldorf Bar Association. Detlef is an assistant lecturer at the University of Düsseldorf. He is furthermore security cleared under the Act on Security Clearance Checks (SÜG).
Detlef is a native German speaker. Furthermore, he is fluent in English.
