Azman Jaafar’s corporate practice focuses mainly on energy and resources industries. He has advised and represented clients in numerous transactions involving mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, mining and oil and gas in Singapore, the People's Republic of China and Indonesia. He speaks and writes Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia, and heads the firm's Indonesia Practice.
Azman has contributed to specialist journals such as Asialaw Corporate Finance Review. He is an ad hoc tutor at the National University of Singapore Law Faculty's Legal Case Studies programme and is also a regular speaker at seminars on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and regulatory compliance in Singapore.
Azman was also named AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers 2009 - Capital Markets/Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance.
Azman was awarded a Public Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Masyarakat, PBM) by the President of the Republic of Singapore in 2007 in recognition of his volunteer and contribution as a councillor with Northeast Community Development Council. He has been a volunteer with the Northeast Community Development Council since 1997, and having served under three different administrations, he has also worked in and chaired several standing committees within Council. He was recently awarded the Long Service Award from Northeast Community Development Council.
Azman was recently appointed as Chairman of the Executive Committee of SAFRA Jurong Clubhouse. He was also concurrently appointed to the Management Committee of SAFRA for a term of two years.
