Unfair competition

As the subject matter of European and national legislation, cartel law is in itself no guarantee for fair competition. The law against unfair competition, or for fairer competition, is a major area of activity in itself in all Taylor Wessing offices and forms part of our highly respected intellectual property department.

We have approximately 40 attorneys working in this legal sector, of which more than 30 are located in Germany alone. Even in Great Britain, where competition law is not independently codified, we have more than seven attorneys specialising in competition law.

A number of sectors in competition law have already been harmonised across Europe and additional ones will follow in the near future. Our approach is therefore European and multinational, but we also have significant experience and knowledge of national competition laws across different jurisdictions.

Our team is highly qualified, with a number of members having more than ten years' practice experience, and it includes several well-known authors and scientists. Team members have therefore been involved in many basic decisions and rulings on competition law which have influenced the development of new legislation.

The size of the team enables work to be carried out under extreme time pressure - as is frequently necessary in competition law cases with interlocutory injunctions - as well as offering longer-term consultancy and advice relating to worldwide advertising campaigns or transactions.

Our services to small and medium-sized companies involve the same level of dedication and expertise from our team as our work with multinational organisations. Our knowledge of different sector areas, such as the development of creative concepts with advertising agencies, means that clients can rely on our industry-specific expertise and experience in order to meet their individual needs.
