Islamic funds
Islamic Funds are funds set up to comply with Islamic (Shari'ah) law. Taylor Wessing's Islamic finance Group includes lawyers from a number of different disciplines including finance, projects and commercial property. The Group includes both Muslims and non-Muslims and the healthy exchange of ideas within the Group allows us to propose and structure practical "Shari'ah" compliant solutions for use in the modern world.
We have strong relationships with a number of the market's leading players and with a number of Shari'ah scholars. Additionally, we are regular contributors to industry seminars and conferences.
Our recent experience includes:
- the establishment of an Islamic compliant hedge fund investing in halal investment vehicles based in the far east. The fund is projected to grow to $200m in the next 2 years
- the Islamic Shari'ah compliant aspects of a property investment fund called Beacon Property Partnership, investing in properties in the UK, and
- acting on the development of a large conventional property fund into a new Shari'ah compliant fund.
