Restructuring

We offer comprehensive advice on the design and efficient implementation of effective corporate and capital structures and advise on the restructuring of groups both inside and outside of formal insolvency proceedings.

Our experience extends to acting on some of the most complex and high value restructurings in Europe, often involving groups with interests in multiple jurisdictions and managing the various steps required to achieve a successful outcome.

We have advised corporates, equity investors, secured lenders, bondholders and unsecured creditors in relation to a number of cross-border restructurings.  Our unparalleled knowledge of the insolvency regimes around Europe enables us to recommend strategies beyond the obvious.

Where a restructuring plan is required, we are adept at conducting difficult negotiations with banks, suppliers, customers, trade unions, works councils and pension scheme representatives.

Corporate group structures often benefit from restructuring in order to deal with companies which are no longer required or where value can be released through solvent winding up or similar processes.

We have experience in acting on some very substantial, cross-border corporate simplification projects, working alongside accountants, tax advisers and investors.

Recent notable engagements include:

  • Advising the management of a high street retail group on the corporate simplification of a group of over 50 companies
  • Representing certain key lenders in the McCarthy & Stone restructuring
