European law firm Taylor Wessing LLP has acted for Devondale Investments on the sale of Portsmouth City Football Club Ltd to Sulaiman Al Fahim’s company, Al Fahim Asia Associates.

Taylor Wessing advised Devondale Investments on all aspects of this complex and multi-faceted transaction, which completed on 29 August. Partner Tim Stocks led the Taylor Wessing team, which also included partners Tom Cartwright and Dominic Ross; and associates Charlotte Azurdia, Guy Morgan, Pascoe Simpson and James Oliver.

The team faced numerous challenges, including meeting strict Premier League requirements, the existence of rival bidding consortiums and intense media scrutiny and speculation.

Commenting on the deal, Taylor Wessing partner Tim Stocks said:

“We are delighted to have acted for Devondale Investments on this high-pressure, high-profile deal. This was a complex transaction, which required us to leverage a range of technical skills, alongside adopting a forward-thinking, flexible approach in order to secure the best possible outcome for our client.”

Mayer Brown International LLP acted for Al Fahim Asia Associates.
