Highland Spring acquires Greencore Water for up to £17.5million

European law firm Taylor Wessing has acted for Highland Spring Limited on the successful acquisition of the bottled water division of Dublin-based Greencore Group plc for up to £17.5million. The move will establish the Scottish company as the largest bottled water supplier in the UK.  

Taylor Wessing advised Highland Spring on all aspects of the acquisition, which has signed formal agreements on 18 November 2009 and will complete on or before 30 April 2010, and includes the transfer of Greencore Water's entire workforce of 124. On completion, Highland Spring will employ over 400 people and will have a capacity of 700 million litres of water a year.

Head of the Corporate, Commercial and Projects Group, James Robertson led the Taylor Wessing team, which also included associate Clare Peacock.

Commenting on the deal, partner James Robertson says:

"We have advised Highland Spring Limited for a number of years and this is a major strategic purchase for the company. We are delighted to have advised them throughout the transaction."

Scottish based Turcan Connell also advised Highland Spring on aspects of the transaction under Scots law.

Dublin based Arthur Cox and Scottish based Burness advised Greencore Group plc.
