Stuart is an associate in the Commercial Disputes Group. He has experience of advising in relation to a broad range of commercial disputes and fact intensive and high profile investigations, specialising in the financial services sector. He also has experience of claims involving the accountancy profession. Stuart is able quickly to understand both the key issues and the client's commercial objectives, and takes a pro-active approach in seeking to achieve resolution of the disputes.
Examples of Stuart's recent work include:
- Acting for a hedge fund manager and investment manager in the defence of a US$365m portfolio mismanagement claim, and on related regulatory investigations in the UK and the USA.
- Defending a large accountancy firm against allegations of negligence arising out of both audit and corporate finance advisory engagements.
- Advising a spread betting company in relation to various claims by customers relating to the use of margin calls, liquidation of customers' positions and the reliance on quoted prices for market indices, commodities, corporate stocks and currencies.
- Advising creditors on potential claims arising out of the collapse of Lehman, and, in particular, advising on issues relating to client money.
