Taylor Wessing works with Crisis to send a Christmas message of hope to the homeless

08-Nov-2006  |

Taylor Wessing is again taking part in the Crisis Christmas Card Challenge, now marking its eleventh anniversary. This campaign will mainly fund the Open Christmas Project which will open its doors to homeless people at Christmas for the 35th year.

Crisis helps rebuild the lives of homeless people by enabling them to regain their social and practical skills, join the world of work, access quality accommodation and reintegrate into society. The charity estimates that there are around 380,000 "hidden" homeless people in Britain, living in B&Bs, hostels, squats and on friends’ floors.

The Crisis Christmas Card Challenge enables organisations to convey their season’s greetings in the pages of the Financial Times, and donate the equivalent of their budgets for corporate greetings cards to Crisis projects instead. Last year, the campaign raised an incredible £785,000, which helped Crisis continue its work in providing year-round services across the UK.

Michael Frawley, Taylor Wessing's UK Managing Partner says, "Community and charitable causes are at the heart of Taylor Wessing's core values as an organisation. We support a wide spectrum of initiatives that include a number of projects for helping the homeless. Crisis is a leading organisation in this area, and we are very pleased to be involved once again this year with the charity's Christmas Card Challenge initiative."

Leslie Morphy, Chief Executive of Crisis says, "I am delighted to see Taylor Wessing joining us once more to open doors for homeless people this Christmas.  This is the Campaign’s 11th Anniversary, and as in previous years, it has proved to be a hugely effective way of raising vital money to support homeless people, as well as helping business to deliver a more lasting message to their customers and staff. Thank you for all of your support in helping us to rebuild the lives of over 8,000 homeless people this year."
