Taylor Wessing UK promotes three to new role of Special Counsel

Taylor Wessing in London has promoted three senior associates to the newly introduced role of Special Counsel with effect from 1 May 2007. 

This role recognises and rewards senior associates who bring particularly valuable skills and capabilities to the firm. 

The three senior associates who have been promoted to Special Counsel are:

Gavin Jones

Immigration

Christopher Benson is Head of Trade Marks Prosecution in the Intellectual Property Department.  He advises on both contentious and non-contentious issues with particular emphasis on trade marks, passing-off, copyright, brand management, licensing, merchandising and sponsorship.  He also advises on all aspects (both contentious and non-contentious) of the creation, development, protection, exploitation and distribution of copyright works, particularly in the publishing, entertainment and media industries.  He is a specialist in the area of publishing and is the co-author of one of the leading legal texts in this area.

Carolyn Dean is a senior associate in the Real Estate Department.  She handles a variety of investment, landlord and tenant and development related transactions.  She has acted on several portfolio acquisitions and also for both funds and developers in complex, high value developments, including a major city centre office park and hotels at Gatwick and Stansted Airports.  Carolyn has particular experience in the hotel and leisure sectors.

Gavin Jones is Head of the Immigration practice.  He coordinates all immigration work in the firm and has grown that work considerably over the past few years to a point where Taylor Wessing, and Gavin himself, is highly rated in the legal directories.  His experience encompasses all aspects of business immigration.  Gavin advises both UK and international clients on the whole range of their immigration requirements.  Gavin sits in the Employment and Pensions department and is part of the Inward Investment Group, advising on immigration aspects for the set-up of new UK entities.
