Taylor Wessing launches local offering in Belgium to complement existing EU and competition legal capabilities

14-Nov-2005  |

Taylor Wessing announces today that it is opening a Belgium law office in line with its European expansion. Its current Brussels arm will now have the capability and expertise to provide advice on Belgian law in addition to EU and competition law.

Taylor Wessing Belgium opens in November 2005 and will be led by partner, Marc Picat, specialising in commercial and competition law.  Partners, Jean Van Steenwinckel (tax) and Christine Flion (real estate) will also be joining the Brussels office.

This is the initial step in the expansion of Taylor Wessing's Belgian services and the law firm has firm plans for further expansion, particularly in the corporate and intellectual property areas.

Gary Moss, Taylor Wessing International Integration Partner, said:

"We are delighted to be announcing this development in our European expansion.  Being the heart of Europe, Brussels was an obvious choice for us and having an existing office there made this a natural transition.  The wealth of experience brought by our new partners will further complement our already acknowledged expertise in EU and competition law and provide another link in the Taylor Wessing European network further expanding our cross-jurisdictional capabilities."

 Marc Picat said:

"I am very excited to be part of Taylor Wessing.  Being part of a European law firm substantially opens up a whole market for us, not only in the UK, Germany and France but also foreign companies further afield attracted to Taylor Wessing because of our cross-jurisdictional expertise."
