Taylor Wessing is the sole legal sponsor of the BVCA Technology Spin-Out Conference – turning good science into good business

Taylor Wessing is the sole legal sponsor of the BVCA Technology Spin-Out Conference - turning good science into good business at Imperial College, on 26 September 2006. Other sponsors of this event include 3i and Grant Thornton.

The conference follows on from the BVCA’s research “Creating Success from University Spin-outs” which highlighted important issues for the venture capital industry, technology transfer offices (TTOs), business angels and the Government. The conference will provide the forum for debating and developing follow-up actions on the proposals made by the BVCA’s research, to help establish and improve networking between the stakeholders and to develop good practice in preparing spin-outs for fundraising, building teams and identifying market applications.

Taylor Wessing, represented by partner Simon Walker, will participate in an advisory panel alongside experienced venture capital investors that will review three later stage business propositions and offer constructive advice as to how it should be worked up into a fundable venture proposal.

Simon Walker commented:

"We are delighted to be a sponsor to the BVCA Technology Spin-Out Conference.  Spin-outs are critical to providing a vibrant stream of companies aspiring to be the next big thing.  Through our Cambridge office in particular we frequently assist spin-outs and we are confident that the Conference will contribute to a greater understanding of their particular needs."
