As from 1 October, Taylor Wessing’s Corporate Team in Munich will be strengthened by the appointment of Dr. Heinrich J. Rodewig and Thomas Krempl.  Up until July 2005, both were Corporate Equity Partners at Haarmann Hemmelrath & Partners' Munich Office.

Between 1991 and 1998, Dr. Heinrich J. Rodewig (58) was General Counsel for the Daimler concern, firstly at Daimler-Benz Aerospace AG and latterly at Daimler-Benz AG, where he was the leading advisor for the DaimlerChrysler merger.  In 1999 he joined Haarmann as an International Partner where he most recently led the world-wide M&A and Corporate Practice Group comprising 84 lawyers.

Dr. Heinrich J. Rodewig is a proven and recognised expert in the field of M&A transactions.  During the course of his professional career, he has advised on numerous mergers involving high-profile companies from the automobile and aerospace industries and from the banking, financing and telecommunications sectors.  Due to his long-standing and extensive experience he is a member of various supervisory boards.  Alongside pure M&A transactions, he also advises on general corporate matters including restructuring and questions of corporate governance.  Dr. Rodewig describes his move to Taylor Wessing in the following terms:

"The outstanding quality of Taylor Wessing’s legal advice together with the team orientated and corporate environment was the decisive factor for me".

Arriving at the same time to strengthen our Corporate Team in Munich will be Thomas Krempl (45).  Following his studies in law, business economics and subsequent training as a tax advisor, he began his legal career at Haarmann Hemmelrath in Munich in 1989, and in 1995 he became an International Partner.

The focus of his practice lies in the area of general corporate law, including tax structuring, company restructuring as well as take-overs and reorganisations.  His clients mainly comprise middle-sized German companies and German subsidiaries of international group companies.  He is particularly specialised in the automobile, IT and textile sectors.  Furthermore, in the field of company reorganisation, he acts for several banking syndicates.  For a number of years, Thomas Krempl has established excellent contacts with businesses and banks in southern Germany.

Managing Partner for Taylor Wessing Germany, Dr. Wolfgang Rehmann, has the following comments on the new Partners:

We are proud that these two experienced legal advisors who are just as comfortable with middle sized businesses as with larger concerns, have decided to join Taylor Wessing.  This will have a positive effect on our offer of an international full client service.  Taylor Wessing, and the Munich Partners in particular, look forward to a close and faithful working relationship with our new Partners.

The arrival of Dr. Heinrich J. Rodewig and Thomas Krempl brings the number of Taylor Wessing’s international corporate lawyers up to 160; 74 of which are in Germany.

This makes Taylor Wessing’s Corporate Practice Group one of the largest in Germany.
