Five new partners at Taylor Wessing

Taylor Wessing is pleased to announce the appointment of five new partners in the UK office with effect from 1 May 2005. This brings the number of UK partners to 101 and for Taylor Wessing worldwide a total of 212 partners.

The new partners are:

Paul Callaghan's practice involves acting for and providing corporate counselling predominantly for US companies with UK interests in relation to all aspects of employment and labour law.  He is an active member of the American Bar Association and the American Employment Law Council, a body of management-sided employment lawyers.

Alan Evans is experienced in a full range of commercial property transactions, specialising in property development, property acquisitions and disposals, both as investments and for business use, leases and other landlord and tenant matters and property aspects of corporate acquisitions and disposals.

Saleem Fazal has extensive experience of all types of disputes arising from the occupation of leasehold/freehold land and puts together land clearance strategies for developers.  Saleem acts for the London Eye, Derwent Valley and Diageo plc.

Michael Helfgott has a wide range of experience of commercial property work and secured lending.  In particular he has detailed experience in the retail and leisure sectors notably having acted for The London Eye Company and a number of property investment companies in relation to the purchase, re-development and letting of shopping centres and the development of leisure and hotel sites.

Nigel Stoate specialises in patent litigation in the chemical, pharmaceutical and engineering industries.  Nigel has a degree in mechanical engineering and worked in industry prior to qualifying as a solicitor.  He has represented clients in a number of high profile patent actions in the High Court and Court of Appeal, including Apotex v SmithKline Beecham (concerning the anti-depressant paroxetine) and Mayne Pharma v Pharmacia & Pfizer (concerning the anti-cancer drug epirubicin).
