UK Sustainability Benchmarking Survey

Benchmarking performance in the built environment is central to the implementation of the sustainability agenda in the development industry. It allows the comparison of sustainability credentials and provides a platform for the assessment of green value. However, choosing an appropriate benchmark can be difficult as there are multiple benchmarks and no accepted common standards.

In our recent report, Hitting the Green Wall … and Beyond, we identified the need for the rationalisation of the plethora of benchmarking tools to enable national and global comparisons. We believe it likely that a series of interlinked common benchmarks will evolve which will measure sustainable building construction, use and organisations' sustainable behaviour.

We have established the TW Sustainability Benchmarks Index which we believe to be the most comprehensive database of sustainability benchmarks. We are now seeking to establish and examine further which benchmarks are commonly in use both nationally and more widely. We intend to track the use and popularity of sustainability benchmarks over time.

We value your contribution to our research and would be grateful if you would click here to complete a short survey on the benchmarking tools you use.
