International law firm Taylor Wessing has enhanced its corporate tax capability with the recruitment of leading tax specialist, Richard Carson.

Richard was previously with Slaughter & May, where he had been a tax partner since 1990.  His experience is based on transactional work, including mergers & acquisitions (domestic and cross-border), public offerings, general financing (as well as structured and asset finance) and corporate restructurings.  Richard has particular expertise in the areas of private equity and the energy and utilities sectors, and has worked for a range of companies in the real estate arena.  He will join Taylor Wessing in January 2012.

Peter Jackson, Head of Taylor Wessing's Tax & Incentives group in London, comments:

"Taylor Wessing is currently experiencing increasing volumes of domestic and international tax work, which gives us a secure platform for further growth and development of our corporate tax function.  In particular, the demand for greater tax specialisation and depth of expertise and resource in certain sectors has resulted in increased opportunities for senior level corporate tax input.  Richard's arrival will contribute significantly to our servicing and exploiting these opportunities.  We look forward to strengthening our corporate tax offering through Richard's considerable experience and expertise acquired during his many years at Slaughter & May, which will benefit both our clients and the development and promotion of the existing members of the corporate tax team."

Richard Carson comments:

"I very much look forward to developing my practice, in particular the transactional element, in the dynamic environment that Taylor Wessing offers; as well as to liaising with the Firm's extensive network of offices to advance my international tax structuring and transaction work."
