This update provides an overview of some recent key developments relating to patents in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors.  Most notably, there have been developments in competition law litigation relating to technology standard setting, with the European Commission concluding two long-running investigations.  In addition, the English High Court has ruled in the Gemstar v Virgin case in relation to patent infringement of TV set-top boxes.
