Taylor Wessing strikes deal for long awaited Bristol International Airport hotel

Taylor Wessing has successfully advised Bristol International Airport (BIA) in negotiations with Pedersen Airport Hotels to secure the development of a new £20million hotel adjacent to the airport's terminal building. Until now, BIA has been the largest international airport in the UK without an on-site hotel.

For passenger groups, airport staff and local businesses news of the successful deal was long awaited. The 250 room hotel will operate under an internationally recognised brand name and facilities will include meeting rooms, a licensed bar and full service restaurant, alongside car parking. The hotel is expected to be completed in 2012 and will create 140 jobs, including 25 during the building process.

Negotiations were led by Partner John Whitfield and Senior Associate Annabella Judge from the Taylor Wessing Hotels Group.

John Whitfield says:

"This was a complicated transaction given the need to locate the hotel adjacent to the terminal. We are also pleased with the successful outcome of this deal given the current economic climate. We look forward to working with BIA again in the future."
