Taylor Wessing's Construction team confirms second new partner for 2011
International law firm Taylor Wessing has strengthened its construction litigation capability with the hire of partner Joanne Kelly from Manches. Joanne's appointment follows hot on the heels of the hire of partner David Quinlan, an expert in projects and infrastructure, to Taylor Wessing's Construction team in January this year.
Joanne Kelly previously led the construction practice in Manches' London office, which she joined in 2001 and was promoted to partnership in 2006. She specialises in contentious and non contentious construction and is primarily involved with large, complex infrastructure projects dealing with procurement and contract management issues, and dispute avoidance and resolution. Having previously been seconded to Canary Wharf Contractors and London Underground Ltd, she has significant experience in the infrastructure and engineering markets.
Joanne is recommended in Legal 500 and is listed as a construction expert in Legal Experts 2010. She is also a tutor at King’s College, London and an expert in the NEC3 form of contract.
Helen Garthwaite, Head of Taylor Wessing's Construction & Engineering group in London, comments:
"Joanne's hire will give a boost to our existing expertise in construction litigation, particularly in the infrastructure sector, and is in line with our strategy to build our contentious construction practice to service large scale domestic and international disputes work. This is a particular focus at a time when a rise in litigation is inevitable as project tensions polarise as a result of the economic constraints on developers and contractors."
Joanne Kelly comments:
"There are many synergies for my practice at Taylor Wessing and I look forward to working in an environment with the full service offering and international capability to develop my work, particularly in the infrastructure, energy and healthcare sectors."
