Taylor Wessing nominated for Pro Bono work at LawWorks Awards 2007
Taylor Wessing has been nominated for Best Contribution by a Law Firm at the LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2007.
The LawWorks Pro Bono Awards celebrate the best legal pro bono activities undertaken by organisations and individuals and the positive impact it had on those helped. Taylor Wessing has been nominated by a local Settlement, with whom the firm has collaborated over the past two years.
Taylor Wessing's local community legal advice clinic has been running every week, with over 40 solicitors and trainees advising at the Settlement and assisting clients who would otherwise not have access to legal advice. Over 330 clients have been to the clinic and the lawyers see ten clients each week. One of the reasons for the success of the clinic is the very positive feedback from clients who have recommended the clinic to their friends and neighbours.
The centre also has an Older Peoples Service for the elderly in the immediate community with whom Taylor Wessing also works, which runs a number of activities including lunch clubs, activity clubs and outreach services. The firm also raises funds on an annual basis for the Outreach project, which provides assistance and support to the elderly not able to leave their homes.
The Awards will be presented at the LawWorks Ball on 14 June 2007.
