Taylor Wessing LLP acts for EHC International on the acquisition of the Four Seasons Hotel, Langkawi, Malaysia
Taylor Wessing acted for EHC International Limited ("EHC"), which, through a joint venture with Kingdom Hotel Investments ("KHI"), the listed hotel and resort company chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, has purchased the Four Seasons Hotel, Langkawi, for a total purchase price of US$115 million. The joint venture company is 10% owned by EHC and 90% owned by KHI.
The award-winning hotel opened in May 2005 and occupies a 35 hectare site, located on a 1.4km stretch of prime beach front and contains 91 suites and villas. The hotel has easy access to the international airport and has quickly acquired a world class reputation as a luxury destination in an exclusive location with no direct competition. EHC intends with KHI to proceed with a multi million dollar expansion of the resort, adding additional keys and developing luxury villas that will be sold as Four Seasons Residences.
The acquisition of this hotel is a significant addition to EHC's expanding portfolio, complimenting luxury hotel and residential developments in Thailand, Morocco and Vietnam.
