Taylor Wessing launches international Brazil Group
Taylor Wessing today announces the launch of its new Brazil Group, following the hires of renowned experts on the Brazilian legal market.
The Brazil Group will be internationally run, led in Germany by partner Dr. Jan Curschman, Brazilian Honorary Consul and renowned legal adviser with long established relations in Brazil, and Daniel Coelho Moreira, an experienced Brazilian corporate/M&A lawyer. Corporate partner Richard Bursby will head up the Group in the UK. The Brazil Group will support and enhance the ever increasing in and outbound investment needs of Brazil based and overseas businesses, as well as HNW individuals.
“The Brazil Group is particularly focused on the flow of business between Brazil, Europe, China and India,” said Co-Head Daniel Coelho Moreira, a native Brazilian who recently joined Taylor Wessing after 15 years with renowned law firm Pinheiro Neto Advogados in Sao Paulo where he assisted international clients in their M&A-transactions. “We know the market in Brazil well and are used to helping businesses achieve the best legal set-up for their commercial activities. Brazil’s economy has been rapidly growing and the country is increasingly important for international companies.”

For example, Taylor Wessing is the first and so far only European member firm of CESA, the association of Brazil’s important law firms,” said Dr. Jan Curschmann on the formal formation of the Brazil Group. “We have served Brazilian clients in the past and felt that we need to formalize and expand our legal advisory activities. Our clients can expect a broad range of legal services delivered in a responsive and cost-effective manner at an international level of quality not only as regards their business activities with Europe but also with Dubai and China where we have long established offices in Shanghai and Beijing.”
In addition to its co-heads, the Brazil Group currently includes Munich based partner Stefan Kroeker, who joined Taylor Wessing in August 2011. He focuses on corporate/M&A and private equity, is fluent in Portuguese and has worked and lived in Brazil for several years. Other members include corporate specialists Dr. Holger Schrewe, LL.M. (Hamburg) and Nicolas de Witt (Paris). Rosario Valdez-Knight (London) will be leading the Group on international trademark law.
