Taylor Wessing joins Workplace Giving UK’s campaign to increase awareness of Payroll Giving

12-Apr-2007

Taylor Wessing, the leading European law firm, has answered Workplace Giving UK's call to "Celebrate 20 Years of Payroll Giving". The firm has written to 20 other law firms to encourage them to introduce the scheme if they do not already have it in place, or to effectively promote their existing scheme.

Payroll Giving is a simple, tax efficient, scheme which allows employees to give to any charity they choose by having a deduction taken straight from their gross pay, there is no tax for the charity to claim back as it is automatically deducted.  Payroll Giving is also the only way for a higher rate tax payer to get their 40% tax straight to their chosen cause as higher rate tax cannot be claimed back by charities via the Gift Aid scheme.

British charities still lose a staggering £900m to the taxman every year – giving through Payroll Giving could substantially reduce this loss.

Taylor Wessing currently has the most successful Payroll Giving scheme in the legal sector with an impressive 27% of employees taking part.

Director of Human Resources at Taylor Wessing, Jonathan Croucher said “The scheme is simple to operate, gives our employees the choice of who they wish to support and adds to our CSR initiatives within the business. We are delighted to join Workplace Giving UK’s campaign to encourage others to take part in the scheme”.

Workplace Giving UK is the country’s largest Payroll Giving fundraising organisation.  They promote and raise awareness of Payroll Giving in the workplace.  This year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Payroll Giving, they are running a special campaign to increase awareness and participation.  Please find out more at www.workplacegiving-uk.com or call 0208 731 5125.
