Taylor Wessing completes £215 million international refinancing of Mid City Place

Taylor Wessing and Olswang have successfully completed the £215 million refinancing of the prime mid-town office building, Mid City Place, High Holborn.

Taylor Wessing was instructed by DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale as agent, who along with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company advanced a secured term loan facility to an affiliate of the Boston-based real estate investment firm Beacon Capital Partners LLC. Olswang acted for Beacon.

The facility was used to assist Beacon with refinancing its existing Windermere (Lehmans) CMBS facility. The refinancing involved multiple jurisdictions including the BVI, Delaware and Jersey.

The Taylor Wessing team was led by Richard Williamson (finance) supported by Anita Ruhmer and Andrew Whittaker, with Mark Bennett leading on real estate matters and James Meakin on tax.

Olswang's team was led by Charles Kerrigan (finance) supported by Ruth Marken and Neil Sargent.  Olswang's real estate team was led by Simon Kanter, who was assisted by Claudia Emerson and Andrew Harding.
