Taylor Wessing clients show appetite for investment
Taylor Wessing's Venture Capital team has acted on a £10.5 million (€12.2m) round of funding in Just-Eat, a website originally founded in Denmark for ordering takeaway meals over the internet. Taylor Wessing advised lead investor, Index Ventures, who invested alongside Venrex Investment Management and existing shareholders.
Just-Eat, which is connected directly to the kitchens of every restaurant in the network, allows customers to order a takeaway online and pay by credit or debit card. Just-Eat currently has 6,000 restaurants in its network, with close to 3,000 in the UK. The funding will be used to consolidate the company’s position in the UK and to expand into additional territories across Europe, such as Norway.
This is the latest in a recent series of funding rounds that Taylor Wessing's award winning Venture Capital group has advised on in the past few weeks, including acting for UK medtech business, Vivacta Limited, on a $4.5 million funding round; and for Light Blue Optics, industry leading developer and supplier of miniature projection systems, on a US$15 million Series 'A' extension.
