Taylor Wessing has boosted its European Corporate Litigation capability with the appointment of Martine De Witte. Martine is the latest in a series of lateral hires to the Brussels office since its launch in October 2005. She joins from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where she has been an equity partner for 15 years, specialising in corporate transactional and general commercial work, dispute resolution and litigation.

Martine deals primarily with the corporate concerns of multinational companies operating in Europe, and has in-depth experience in the representation of U.S. and European clients in the information technology, telecommunications and biotechnology industries. Furthermore, she has represented clients on dispute resolution and litigation matters before the CFI in Luxembourg, the Disciplinary Council of Registered Accountants in The Hague and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

She will be the fifth partner to join the Brussels office, working with founding partners Marc Picat (commercial and competition law) and Christine Flion (real estate and environment), Jeroen Smets (corporate and finance, joined May 2006) and Philippe De Wulf (employment, joined Oct 2006).

Marc Picat, partner and head of the Brussels office comments:

"We are very excited about the experience and capabilities that Martine brings to the firm.  Martine’s expertise in both the corporate and dispute resolution fields, combined with our existing corporate strengths, will be a great platform for the development of our Brussels office going forth."

Martine De Witte states:

“I am very pleased to join Taylor Wessing. The firm’s pan-European presence and global reach provides tremendous value to my international clients. Taylor Wessing offers access to legal expertise and service standards that they rightly expect and deserve. I look forward to contributing to the continuing development of the corporate practice in Brussels and the further expansion and growth of the firm."
