TAYLOR WESSING BOASTS AN OUTSTANDING 27% STAFF UPTAKE OF THEIR PAYROLL GIVING SCHEME

28-Jul-2005

After recent promotions of Taylor Wessing's Payroll Giving Scheme, the leading European law firm can now boast a record uptake of 27% of UK employees giving to charity through their pay.  Considering that the average uptake within UK companies stands at 5% participation, Taylor Wessing's employee uptake is an outstanding result.

After the introduction of Payroll Giving in 2000 and annual promotions of the scheme by Workplace Giving UK, participation has steadily increased year on year.  Employees now give over £45,000 per annum to UK registered charities of their choice.

Jonathan Croucher, Director of Human Resources at Taylor Wessing comments:

"Our staff have been fantastic in their support of Payroll Giving.  Workplace Giving UK’s promotions of the scheme have made it easy for staff to join and with this being the most tax effective way to give to charity, particularly for higher rate tax payers, I’m not surprised by the success we have achieved.  Payroll Giving is such an easy way for our staff to make a real difference and I would recommend it to anyone."

Payroll Giving allows employees to give tax effectively through their wage to a charity of their choice.  A donation of £10 will cost a standard rate taxpayer £7.80 or £6.00 for a higher rate taxpayer.

Payroll Giving is the only way that a higher rate taxpayer can give all their tax on a charitable donation automatically.

Payroll Giving raised £91 million for good causes in the last financial year alone, and is the fastest growing form of tax effective giving.
