Taylor Wessing's Cambridge office has advised Xention Discovery Ltd, an emerging pharmaceutical company specialising in ion channel drug discovery, on its £11m Series B financing.

New investors in the company, ABN AMRO Capital of Amsterdam which led the financing, and Crédit Agricole Private Equity (CAPE) of Paris, participated in the financing round alongside certain existing investors.

With a number of programmes in the cardiovascular, neurological and metabolic disease areas, the financing will allow Xention to discover and develop novel and effective drug candidates for important underserved disorders.

Cambridge-based Intellectual Property partner, Malcolm Bates, commented:

"We are delighted to have advised Xention on this successful funding round.  This series B financing is a considerable vote of confidence in the company's technology and management."

The Taylor Wessing team advising Xention comprised head of the Cambridge office, Simon Walker, and Susanna Stanfield (corporate), Malcolm Bates and Darren Bezzina (IP) and Elizabeth Small (tax).

ABN AMRO Capital and Crédit Agricole Private Equity were advised by Jones Day, while the existing investors were advised by Clyde & Co.
