Taylor Wessing advises on MBO of Bestinvest by 3i
Taylor Wessing has advised the management of Bestinvest, the independent investment managers and financial adviser, on its MBO by private equity firm 3i for an undisclosed sum.
Bestinvest was founded in 1986 by majority shareholder John Spiers, and currently manages client assets of more than £3.7 billion. Andrew Barnes, Bestinvest chief executive, will continue leading the existing management team going forward.
The Taylor Wessing team advising the management comprised Corporate partners Tom Cartwright and Peter Kempe, together with associates Guy Morgan and Cian Farrell. Partner, Peter Jackson led on tax advice.
3i were advised by Macfarlanes (Charles Meek and Luke Powell). John Spiers was advised by KL Gates (Kevin Dean, Kathryn Thomas and Jeremy Davis).
