Taylor Wessing advises on future of Portsmouth City Football Club
International law firm Taylor Wessing LLP has advised Alexandre Gaydamak, as a creditor and charge holder in relation to Portsmouth City FC, throughout negotiations to reach a financial agreement with the Club’s administrators for the release of security in connection with the sale of the Club.
Taylor Wessing advised Alexandre Gaydamak on all aspects of the complex and multi-faceted negotiations, which completed on 24th October 2010. Partner Tim Stocks led the Taylor Wessing team, which also included finance and restructuring partners Dominic Ross and Neil Smyth and associate Leah Carson.
The high-profile deal held great importance for thousands of Portsmouth fans and the Taylor Wessing team faced a raft of challenges during the negotiations, including tight deadlines, intense media scrutiny and speculation.
Commenting on the deal, Taylor Wessing partner Tim Stocks said:
“We are delighted to have acted for Alexandre Gaydamak in this matter. This was a complex transaction, which required us to leverage a range of technical skills and adopt a forward-thinking, flexible approach in order to reach an agreement within extremely tight timescales.”
