Taylor Wessing advises HomeAway in its acquisition of the Homelidays Group

09-Feb-2009  |  Banking & Finance, Corporate, Financial Institutions & Services

The Paris office of European law firm Taylor Wessing has assisted HomeAway Group, the world leader in the on-line vacation rentals sector, on its acquisition of the Homelidays Group. Homelidays Group is the market leader in Europe for private vacation rentals, with subsidiaries including the Homelidays.com, Villanao.com and Holidaylets.net websites.

This acquisition has boosted HomeAway Inc’s unquestionable global leadership in a strongly expanding market. This acquisition follows HomeAway's purchase of the leading website on the French market, Abritel.fr, in January 2007.

HomeAway Group now offers more than 360,000 properties for rent in more than 100 countries throughout the world and owns the main dedicated websites in France, Great Britain and the United States, as well as in Germany and Italy.

The acquisition is part of HomeAway Group’s powerful development strategy, which led to the raising of EUR 250 million in funds last November.

“This is a very important acquisition for HomeAway due to Homelidays’ extensive rental portfolio and the reputation its trademark enjoys with European vacationers” stated Brian Sharples, HomeAway’s founding President.

The value of the transaction is confidential.

Purchaser’s adviser: HomeAway was advised by Taylor Wessing France whose team was led by Gilles Amsallem, Partner, and Neal Lachmany, associate.
