We are delighted to launch the second edition of our popular legal checklist "Promoting Your Business". This handy, pocket sized guide was originally launched in September 2009.

It is designed to help you spot the potential legal and regulatory issues that might arise when your organisation is producing material to promote its business. The guide is intended for anyone who is involved in approving or producing websites / online content, marketing materials, advertisements or promotions.

The guide helps with questions such as:

  • What advertising standards apply to company promotional material?
  • Which intellectual property rights may be relevant?
  • Which specialist areas may be relevant - for example, prize draws, consumer credit, financial promotions, medicinal claims, the Olympics, user generated content?

The second edition contains a number of important updates, including guidance on the ASA's extended remit for online content, astroturfing and product placement.

Please discard our first edition of the checklist and replace with the second edition.
