New Partner for Taylor Wessing in Brussels

Taylor Wessing is pleased to announce the appointment of a new partner, Bart De Moor, to its Brussels office. 

Bart De Moor, who joins Taylor Wessing from Belgian firm Laga, will head up Taylor Wessing's Brussels Company and Trade Law Litigation practice; and will work to develop the Insolvency and Restructuring group.

Bart is a well-known bankruptcy practitioner and a member of the Brussels Court of Commerce; and is also a guest professor at the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB), teaching civil law, company and commercial law. In addition, he is an assistant in legal methodology at the University of Ghent.

Taylor Wessing's Brussels office is long established, having been borne out of the 2002 merger between Taylor Joynson Garrett and Wessing, both of which had set up offices in Belgium in 1990. The office provides a full advisory service on all aspects of Belgian law to Taylor Wessing's major national and international clients.

Bart De Moor Biography

Bart specialises in all aspects of litigation (including secured debt, insolvency and reorganization of ventures), civil and company law as well as commercial law. His main activity relates to the company restructuring and creditors' rights involving a need of M&A capacity in the case of a transfer un undertakings or companies as well as the need of capacity in banking and finance law (restructuring of loans and security).

Bart studied law in Belgium at the University of Ghent.  He obtained a certificate from the University of Georgia (USA) for a four years cycle of course on the legal system in the United States as well as a certificate in Health Economics from the University of Antwerp.

He began his career as a lawyer in 1989, worked with the Belgian law firm Dal & Veldekens and then moved to Laga, in the corporate department during 9 years. He joined our Brussels office as partner in 2009.  Bart is member of the Brussels bar.

He publishes legal articles and various books.  He is Member of the Council of the Dutch Brussels Bar and of the International Bar Association (IBA) and of various editorial boards of legal publications.
He speaks Dutch, French, English, German and Italian.
