Retailers have been given a two-month reprieve before the introduction of planning controls over mezzanines.
The Government had intended to introduce legislation requiring retailers to obtain planning permission for mezzanine floors over 2,150sq ft by September 2005. However, the timescale has slipped and it is now unlikely that the clampdown on mezzanines will introduced before November at the earliest, giving retailers at least two more months to carry out extension works.
