Immigration Rules change from 6 April 2010
The Points-Based System (PBS) was launched two years ago with the aim of providing a transparent and simplified way to ensure that only highly skilled non-EU nationals, who have the most to contribute to the UK economy, are permitted to work in the UK.

There are two main categories in the PBS for skilled workers to live and work in the UK - Tier 1 for highly skilled workers and Tier 2 for skilled workers who hold a job offer from a UK employer that has been licensed to sponsor migrants.
On 6 April 2010, the government will make significant changes to Tier 1 and Tier 2 of PBS. Many of the changes have been recommended by the independent Migration Advisory Committee, others have been made following consultation with UK businesses and law firms such as Taylor Wessing.
