FSA's election manifesto

A new philosophy and 'intensive supervision' for year ahead

With its own future seemingly in the hands of the electorate, the FSA has just published a financial regulator's equivalent of a political manifesto - its Business Plan for 2010. Together with the accompanying Financial Risk Outlook 2010 and sector digests (which analyse macro economic and other risks to markets, firms, consumers and the regulatory system) published a few days earlier, this is the FSA's mission statement for the months ahead. Whether it is enough to save the FSA from the Tory axe remains to be seen, but it is certainly ambitious and uncompromising.

This alert highlights selected key themes and initiatives (non-prudential) which the FSA plans to take forward in 2010/11.
