BCO Guide on the selection of construction materials: Green is the new black...
The British Council for Offices has published the new edition of their long awaited guide: "Good Practice in the Selection of Construction Materials 2011". The Guide follows the 1997 edition which was then reprinted in 2002.
The key changes in the 2011 Guide include a renewed emphasis on the environmental impact of construction materials, minor amendments to the materials referred to in the section 2 guidance notes and a new section 3 which sets out references to sources of further information regarding the selection of construction materials.
As a result of the newly published guidance, it is important that you familiarise yourself with the content of the 2011 guide, ensuring that it is referred to, in new and existing development documentation including construction contracts where appropriate. It is vital to consider where contracts may need to be revised, particularly for projects which are at an early stage. Make sure you are familiar with the new guidance and the impact that this could have on your own business and best practice procedures.
For further information and for the practical steps that you will need to review your own business best practice procedures in light of this new guide, please view our PDF, BCO Guide on the selection of construction materials.
